This early 20th-century study on global rainfall patterns was authored by Andrew John Herbertson (1865 – 1915), a Scottish geographer and member of both the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE) and the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS). The 70-page report was published in London in 1901 by the Royal Geographical Society, with printing by William Clover and Sons.
An outline of the author’s methodology and a brief literature review are followed by twelve folding world maps highlighting global rainfall distribution for each month. Accompanying text broadly describes climate trends across different geographic regions. A thirteenth map shows the mean annual precipitation, while a folding chart presents the monthly distribution of rainfall as a percentage of the entire year. The volume concludes with several tables of weather station data compiled by Herbertson, who would go on to become the first Oxford Professor of Geography in 1905.

RGS report with blue paper covers bound in custom full leather with embossed spine, moderately soiled with split gutters along the front endpaper. Complete, 70 pp. + 13 folding maps (each about 17" x 9.25") and one chart. Very good overall.
