Description
This double-sided brochure of Southern California’s Disneyland was published in 1958 by Walt Disney Productions, Inc. The ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ had opened its doors just three years prior, but it still managed to draw tremendous crowds and had expanded significantly in the intervening period.
Most notably, the addition of the Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer’s Island, the Sailing Ship Columbia, and Alice in Wonderland are reflected in the image and in the text on the verso. A welcoming invitation from Walt Disney himself can be found in the lower left;
“Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past…and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts which have created America…with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”
