The global attraction of Disneyland got an inauspicious start in 1953 on 160 acres near the small town of Anaheim, California. The park would become an immediate sensation, and would quickly help build the Walt Disney brand into a worldwide phenomenon.
This attractive bird’s eye view of Disneyland was published in 1979; one of numerous editions updated regularly for sale within the park. That year saw the opening of Frontierland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the mine train roller coaster is prominently featured in the lower left. A decorative border comprised of some of the company’s most iconic characters can be seen around the edges, while the park’s primary attractions are individually labeled within the image.
