Description
This vibrant bird’s eye view of Disneyland is one of a series of promotional maps sold as souvenirs within the park for over fifty years. The primary image presents an attractive overview of one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet. Rides, attractions, amenities, and shops are individually illustrated and labeled within the park’s now seven “themed lands”; Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Bear Country, and New Orleans Square.
This particular example was issued in 1979, nearing the park’s 25th anniversary. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened the same year and is commemorated with a small vignette in the lower left. A second inset on the right side replicates the text from Walt Disney’s original 1955 inscription plaque;
“Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the promise and challenge of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America…”

Condition Description: Moderate creasing along former fold lines and several spots of separation at fold intersections that have been repaired on the verso with archival tape. Residue from old tape visible in each corner, with additional discoloration, soiling, and abrasion visible in the lower right. Further spots of ink smudging and residue in the center right, above the dedicatory plaque.
