Description
Johann Elert Bode was a German astronomer and mathematician who is most well known for determining the orbit of Uranus and lending his name to an equation for establishing distances between the Sun and planets. Bode published numerous volumes about his celestial studies, many of which contain detailed engraved diagrams, maps and charts.
This example is from 177 and shows the moon in three phases – the full moon (the primary image), four days after the new moon (waxing crescent), and in the first quarter.
