Description

This assortment of captioned photographs was compiled by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (German Army High Command) and published in Berlin by Zeitgeschichte-Verlag Wilhelm Andermann in 1941. It is a visual celebration of the victory over France and the British Expeditionary Forces that took place the year prior.

Images of cheering soldiers, raised flags, and captured prisoners are interspersed between scenes of urban devastation, fields of corpses, and destroyed vehicles. Accompanying text (in German) praises the heroism of the victorious soldiers, defending the Fatherland, while placing the blame for the conflict squarely at the feet of Britain and France.
