Daytona Beach Recreational Area
$75.00
Bright pictorial map of “The World’s Most Famous Beach.”
Description
This promotional map of Daytona Beach, Florida was distributed by the local chamber of commerce and presents an idyllic, if abstract view of the beach cities. Few details are provided apart from street names; colorful illustrations drawn by two local artists do most of the talking.
A breadth of recreational activities are on display, intending to cater to a wide audience of tourists and residents alike. Chattering monkeys, the Bulow Ruins and the famous beach auto track are just a few attractions that make Daytona a unique destination. The beach track would be replaced by the even more famous Daytona International Speedway just a two years after publication in 1958. A border incorporating elements of beach living and the surrounding natural beauty complete the image.
