Description
This is one of the numerous examples of the Dated Events War Maps drawn by Stanley Turner and licensed by the advertising firm of C.C. Petersen between 1942 and 1946. This particular copy is the 3rd issue printed by the International Circulation Company Company, and dates to July or early August 1942.
The map itself uses vivid color to illustrate territory under control of the Axis (green & purple), neutral (white) and Allied (all else). Further color is applied to various events noted within the image to distinguish the years in which they occurred between 1939 and 1942. Insets in the upper corners apply the same scheme to overviews of Africa and the Battle of the Atlantic.
The verso features a black and white overview of the Pacific Theater, showing the Japanese advance that would begin to be rolled back with the forthcoming Guadalcanal Campaign in early August.
