Dated Events War Map

C.C. Petersen and Stanley Turner’s Dated Events War Map from late 1943.
Description
This lovely example from the Dated Events War Map series, the 13th edition, shows the global status of WWII as of late 1943. Corsica and Sardinia are shown under Allied control, as is Naples and southern Italy. The Red Army offensive through Poland and the Ukraine is not as up to date, but information on the eastern front was less readily available (and of generally less interest) to American producers and consumers.
Action in the Pacific is more quiet and most of the notes pertain to Japanese victories (and atrocities). An interesting inset map shows the North Sea and Channel Ports, presumably alluding to the possibility of an invasion. The Allies had promised Stalin an invasion of Nazi Germany as early as 1942, but it would be another half a year before the D-Day landings would take place.
This particular example does not have an advertisement, but it was printed by an advertising company, Gettier-Montanye, Inc. for self-promotion purposes.
