“Fantasy, if it’s really convincing, can’t become dated, for the simple reason that it represents a flight into a dimension that lies beyond the reach of time.” – Walt Disney.
The quote that can be found in the lower right of this sheet is a compelling argument for the importance of such a map, which can act as a bridge between time and the fantastical world that Disney created. Issued in 2020 for gold members of the official Disney Fan Club, the image shows a wonderful mix of old and new from the pantheon of Disney entertainment. Landmarks and characters from some of the company’s most recognizable productions are colorfully illustrated, and most are labeled. Those that are not add an extra “Easter egg” element for fans of DuckTales, Little Toot, Peter Pan, and many others.
Twenty three of the franchise’s iconic landmarks are shown in the border, along with a corresponding location according to the border grid. In addition to whimsy and fun, the map provides concrete evidence of Walt Disney’s incredible global cultural impact.
