Description

This sign, dated to the mid-1970s from the closure of Isabella Station (1973), shows the combined bus and rail operations of the Chicago Transit Authority in the northern suburb of Evanston. The latter would be re-organized as the Purple Line in 1993.

Routes are numbered and operational hours are provided, though the ‘Your location is marked’ has either rubbed off or was never applied in the first place. A vintage relic that captures an interesting portion of Chicago transportation history.
