Description

This pair of prints shows the interior composition of a large French warship, specifically a second rate ship of the line with 70 guns.

One view shows a cross section of the ship lengthwise, highlighting the numerous decks, bulwarks, and gunports. The second sheet shows the ship from the top down, revealing the deck plan and identifying 25 different components in the corresponding legend.

Possibly included in a French edition of The Elements of Naval Architecture: Or, a Practical Treatise on Ship-building by Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau.
