Description

This informational chart explaining the doctrinal positions of various Christian denominations was compiled by Rulon S. Howells for inclusion in his 1940 volume, His Many Mansions. The beliefs and justification behind twenty-three different religions’ principles are briefly outlined for a variety of sects, such as Unitarian, Adventist, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic. Demographics (global and American) are provided for each order.

Often contentious topics for comparison include the Holy Trinity, miracles, marriage, Satan, baptism, and ecclesiastical authority. A relevant disclaimer in the introduction prompts the audience, “it must be remembered, however, that the diversity to be found within a denomination itself is as striking as the diversity between the various denominations themselves.”
