Description
This lively pocket map of the Paris Metro was distributed by the Grand Magasins du Louvre, a historic department store situated opposite the Palais Royal in the heart of the city. Both the Metropolitan and North-South lines are represented with vibrant color, with individual stations listed in the negative space. A handful of locations of interest are noted, including hotels operated by the landmark retailer. The various departments are cataloged on the covers, while the verso of the sheet presents a sweeping view of the storefront.
Printed in Paris by Imp. Vaugirard. The piece is undated, but was most likely issued between 1914 and 1920, after the Allemagne stop on Line 2 was renamed Jaures and prior to Alma (Line 1) changing to George V.
