Colorado America’s Vacationland

A pictorial celebration of the great state of Colorado.

This vibrant poster celebrating the history and vast natural beauty of Colorado was drawn by Don Hickman and published in Phoenix, Arizona by Palographics in 1972. A simple outline map shows primary towns and transportation routes across the state, but the emphasis is on the vast amounts of text and beautiful vignettes in the upper and lower borders.

Many of Colorado’s historic sites, important residents, and notable events are covered in an attractive, albeit slightly cartoonish, style. Recreational opportunities, flora and fauna, and the cultural heritage of various peoples are also explored in some detail.
