Description

This interesting collection of maps and ephemera was published to promote the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railway, a popular commuter line. Three maps show a diagram of the entire route, a large-scale plan of downtown Chicago, and a railroad map of the region. The group is rounded off with a commissary receipt, motorman delay report, and advertisement for New Year’s Eve ‘Night Owl’ Service.

The Chicago North Shore Line, officially known as the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad, was an interurban electric railway that operated between the Windy City and Milwaukee from 1916 until 1963. Known for its high-speed “Electroliner” trains and frequent service, it played a key role in connecting suburban communities along Lake Michigan’s North Shore.
