Cleveland Ohio

A celebration of local businesses throughout Cleveland from the early 1990s.

This stylized advertising map shows an abstract view of Cleveland, Ohio looking south, with Lake Erie in the foreground. It was published by a company called City Design around 1993, based on the label adjacent to the ballpark – “Future home of the ’94 Indians”.

The buildings for dozens of local businesses are individually illustrated and labeled with name, address, and phone number. Caricature portraits of business owners are even included in many cases! Artist self portraits can be seen at the top and bottom of the page, with the latter encouraging the audience to “Tell them you saw it on the map!”
