Description

This map of Lincoln, Nebraska provides a fulsome overview of the capital city on the eve of the Great Depression. The locations of four major businesses are identified within the image; Western Electric, Elgin Watch, Goodyear, and the Gas Company, with the latter sponsoring distribution of the map itself.

Other locations of interest are also shown with a series of letters and labeled near the bottom of the page. Still other places are outlined and named within the map itself. These include Capital Beach Amusement Park, the State Hospital for the Insane, Robber’s Cave, and the University of Nebraska. Transportation systems are also noted.

The map was designed by the Lincoln Blue Print and Map Company and published to promote The Gas Company in 1929.
