Description

Residents and visitors of the Windy City are blown out towards Lake Michigan on this humorous poster, illustrated by John Holladay and published to promote the aptly named Wind Radio 56, owned by Westinghouse at the time of issue.

Chicago’s iconic skyline bends with the powerful gusts as its diverse population, interspersed with amusing characters, vehicles, etc., hang on for dear life. Of particular interest are the newly-introduced 2600 series ‘L’ cars, windswept planes at Meigs Field, and The Picasso, flying like a kite.
