Description
This striking (if highly stylized) view of Chicago from Lake Michigan was originally drafted by Jules Guerian for publication in Daniel Burnham Root’s influential 1909 Plan of Chicago. A sweeping panorama of the city showcases extensive improvements along the lakefront, notably two large piers encompassing a protected harbor and significant parkland, and striking diagonal streets (only a few of which were ever built). .
This reprint was issued by the Art Institute of Chicago in conjunction with its exhibition, Chicago Architecture: 1872 – 1922.
