Description

First established as a private bathing beach in 1870, Cedar Point is the second oldest continually operating amusement park in the United States (behind Lake Constance in New York). It’s situated on a peninsula jutting out into Lake Erie, near Sandusky, Ohio and today contains some of the most thrilling roller coasters on the planet.

This poster map was published as a souvenir by the park in 1970, exactly 100 years after it first opened for business. A mix of the old and the new can be seen, with the bathing beach near the top of the sheet combined with a contemporary variety of thrill rides, attractions, and amusements. Blue Streak, the park’s oldest roller coaster, can still be enjoyed by guests today, though much of the rest of the park has changed drastically in the intervening half-century.
