Description
This somewhat sparsely detailed world map was issued to accompany the first edition of the horror-themed tabletop role-playing game, the Call of Cthulhu. Set in a dark world influenced by H.P. Lovecraft’s works and various folk tales, players encounter the occult, visit the Dreamlands, and investigate the mysterious during the largely free-form gameplay.
The map notes basic topography, prominent geographic features, and different global cities throughout the image. Squares and triangles reflect (real) archaeological and (fictional) Cthulhuoid sites, respectively. Masses of squirming tentacles along either side of the sheet hint at the impending doom of the world.
