Description
This groovy tourism map of California was published in the mid-1980s by Walt Disney Productions. The company’s iconic characters are heavily leveraged to promote outdoor recreation, attractions, and cities across the state.
Some of the illustrations show an amusing relationship with the content, such as the ‘painting’ Ace of Clubs, Scandinavian Goofy near Solvang, and Dewey stomping grapes near Modesto. Mickey and Minnie are shown hovering above all with their hot air balloon, tethered to the ‘Happiest Place on Earth.’
