Description

This collection of blueprints outlines the passenger station of the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railway (popularly known as the Big Four) in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. A series of later images originally dated between 1904 and 1949 has been updated with manuscript annotations to reflect renovations and property changes. The spacious two-story building had a distinctive round ticket office, a ladies’ retiring room, and large dedicated rooms for the Railway Express Agency.
