Description

Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida originally opened to the public in 1959, admission-free, as a literal garden to accompany a nearby new brewery constructed by the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company. Early attractions included a ‘Hospitality House’ that dispensed free beer! The modest botanic garden and animal show would gradually evolve into one of America’s top theme parks.

This souvenir map was distributed to parkgoers for the 1996/97 season. Various rides, guest amenities, and food options are illustrated and labeled. The latest attraction, Edge of Africa, opened the same year as publication and is featured prominently in the center of the page. A warning in the lower right reminds guests not to throw food, coins, sunglasses, or stuffed toys to the animals.
