Description
Bust a move with this instructional poster by the New York City Breakers, a crew established in the Bronx in the early 1980s. The eye-catching image provides step-by-step directions for the Electric Boogie, Moonwalk, Top-Rocking, Footwork, and the eminently difficult Headspin. Photographs and accompanying text make it look easy! Also of note are the health and safety disclaimer (upper left) and a dictionary of common “breaking” terms.
Photography was provided by Lois Greenfield and Daniel Mularoni, with instructional text by Michael Holman, founder of the New York City Breakers. The poster was published by K-Tel International, Inc. in 1984, the year following the group’s first nationally televised performance on The Merv Griffin Show.
