Description

This sweeping view of the American Southwest plants Las Vegas squarely in the center, conveniently accessible to attractions including the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Death Valley, Boulder Dam (yet to be renamed) and the glittering lights of Los Angeles. Despite the city’s size on the map and its robust transportation network of roads, rails, and planes, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce advertises as ‘Still a Frontier Town.’

The brochure is adhered to a disbound scrapbook page that includes manuscript dates describing a quick summer stopover. A soap wrapper from the Overland Hotel and menu from the Union Pacific on the verso provide further context to the trip.
