Description

This analysis of the American fighting efforts during World War II was published in 1945 by the Government Printing Office. Two color booklets offer a high-level strategic overview of Allied victory.

The report by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff (123 pages long) offers a chronological summary of the conflict and various details about postwar occupation, troop formations, and weapon systems. Several cartographic illustrations are included, many of which were designed by the talented Richard Edes Harrison. The supplemental atlas, designed by the Army Map Service, provides a series of fifty maps that show the progression of campaigns in both the Pacific and European theaters.
