Description

Karl Baedeker was a German publisher born in 1801 into a long line of booksellers and printers. His ubiquitous guidebooks set the pattern for subsequent travel publications, and he pioneered the use of the star rating system seen throughout world travel reviews today. Baedeker’s guides were pioneers in accessible travel across classes, and including novel information such as travel routes, weather data, walking tours, accommodations, and pricing. Despite the egalitarian approach, Baedeker’s were often the source of the most accurate and up to date maps of many areas in Europe in the first half of the 20th century.

This guidebook of Norway, Sweden and Denmark includes 62 maps and three panoramas, providing comprehensive coverage across the region. In addition to the general travel information, a phrase book is helpfully provided at the end of the publication.
