Description
This uncommon map of Arizona outlines the state’s highway network in 1927. Solid black lines indicate Principal Highways, while Secondary Highways and Other Roads are noted with thinner and cased lines, respectively. Both State and U.S. Route numbers are noted, including the iconic U.S. 66. An advertisement for Mayer Automotive Company and the Black Canyon Route can be seen in the lower center, while the verso of the sheet presents further promotions, a list of hotels, and a list of automotive dealers.
The map was prepared in Phoenix by E.V. Miller, with the copyright secured in 1927 by George Hammond. Published and distributed by the Automobile Club of Arizona, managed by Wilbur Treadwell. Printed in Phoenix by the Republican Print Shop.

Condition Description: Double-sided map brochure with heavy wear along folds and heavy toning along the outer edges of the sheet. Numerous splits repaired on the verso with archival tape. Small chips in the margins, but the image remains intact and legible. Old markings in blue along U.S. 180. Between fair and good condition overall.
