Description

This charming little promotional leaflet does much to encourage travel and recreation in Pasadena, California.

“Eleven miles from Los Angeles, in the shadow of mighty mountains, and but a few minutes away from all the major attractions of the Great Southland, a marvelous vacation awaits you. Come to Pasadena in the assurance that you will find beauty beyond that of almost any other part of the world, and interest such as few resorts may offer.” [Text, verso]

The primary image presents a simple automobile map of Pasadena, with notable locations like the Rose Bowl, Busch Gardens, and San Gabriel Mission all labeled. Panels on either side show strip maps of the Coast Route and Valley Route from San Francisco and Sacramento, respectively, while a distance table is provided at the top of the page. Several advertisements around the border and on the verso highlight local accommodations.

Published in Los Angeles by the Miniad Company in the late 1920s. One of the numerous issues covering various areas across California that were ‘published quarterly for the convenience of the traveling public.’ Despite the claim found on the front panel, the maps are surprisingly scarce on the market.
