Description

This charming promotional brochure was issued by the Asheville Chamber of Commerce to encourage tourism to the ‘Eastern Entrance to the Great Smokies’ and ‘Mountain Metropolis of the Land of the Sky.’ The primary map shows the location of the city with easy access to adjacent parks, Native American reservations, lakes, and other recreational retreats. Photographs surrounding the diagram reinforce the outdoor theme.

The verso shows a stylized map of the eastern half of the United States that highlights Asheville ‘At the Crossroads of America’s Tourist Routes.’ Text and accompanying photographs comprise the centerfold and detail numerous attractions and locations of interest across the region.
