Around Ground Zero

Revisiting the site of 9/11, about six months after the attacks.

This somber synthesis of commemoration and visitor’s guide was copyrighted in 2002 by Laura Kergan as part of the ongoing efforts by New York New Visions Coalition for Rebuilding New York. A large-scale outline of Ground Zero and the surrounding region highlights the extent of damage, viewing areas, nearby transportation, and other major features. Temporary memorials, marked with small teddy bears, instinctively wrench the heart of anyone who remembers coverage of the attack. A black-and-white photograph of Ground Zero on the verso presents the harsh reality of destruction and loss.
