Description

This fascinating brochure presents a wealth of information related to the history of Arabic cultures on the island of Cuba, beginning with the Spanish Moors. Text in three different languages (Arabic, Spanish, and English) offers an engaging chronological overview from the 16th to the 20th centuries, highlighting diverse military, political, and cultural contributions. Several maps are included – a street plan of Havana highlighting principal Arabic institutions, maps of Europe and the Near East noting emigration patterns, and a cartographic overview of Arab Society in Cuba.

The work was copyrighted in 2001 by the Havana-based Ediciones GEO, with support from the Fundacion Fernando Ortiz and Union Arabe de Cuba. Much of the text was written by Rigoberto Menendez.
