Description
This abstract map of the United States was published in 1971 by the National Football League for display at an NFL clinic or training camp (sponsors are listed in the lower left). Football’s proud 50+ year history as a professional organized sport is splashed across the page in an interesting mishmash of portraits, logos, stadium scenes, and dated events. Each team is represented with a ‘Mt. Rushmore’ of all-star players and coaches and described with a short biography at the bottom of the page.
The lower right corner contains the (unverified) signatures of several members of the Philadelphia Eagles; including Dick Hart, Ed Khayat, and Ben Hawkins. The ‘Hawk’ still retains the club record for most receiving touchdowns in a game (4) and is second-highest in yards-per-catch (18.3). The poster-sized map is rare and unlisted in WorldCat as of September 2024.
