Description
The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts was a World’s Fair held in Paris in 1925 to celebrate a new style of architecture, art, and design that would ultimately become known as Art Deco. The fairgrounds, straddling both banks of the Seine, are prominently shown on this map of the central portion of the city.
It was issued by the Chicago Tribune to appeal to both ex-pats and tourists alike. A border of numbers and letters corresponding to various points of interest, hotels, department stores, and travel agencies listed on the verso. A shopping guide for dressmakers, furs, haberdashers, tapestries, etc. is also helpfully provided for those looking to indulge in a little ‘retail therapy.’
