Description

This mid-17th century costume print shows a woman wearing a wide-brimmed hat, shawl, and fur muff – possibly dressed for a frigid winter in New England. It was published as part of Wenceslaus Hollar Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus (The Clothing of English Women) in 1640.

Using eyewitness accounts from ladies at the court of an English Earl, the volume presents reliable visual evidence of women’s clothing from all economic classes of Stuart England.
