America’s “Best Sellers”… Best Savers… Best Servers
$85.00
Colorful postwar advertisement for Chevrolet trucks.
Description
Although the company had surpassed Ford in overall vehicle sales back in 1929, Chevrolet was known for its modestly priced cars, like the Standard Six, in the years leading up to WWII. But between 1939 and 1950 the ratio of car to truck sales dropped from 4:1 to 2.5:1, thanks in large part to the release of the Advance Design Truck Line. It was the first of Chevy’s postwar models and the completely new design was stylish, spacious, and had good visibility.
It was also versatile, and dozens of various uses can be seen on this advertising poster issued in 1948. Flatbeds, fire trucks, school buses, ambulances, tankers, dump trucks, paddy wagons, hearses, delivery vans, campers and more, all available in “a choice of 12 attractive colors at no extra cost.” Additional advertising can be seen on the verso, including special features of the new Advance Design, statistics about Chevrolets sold, and the stamp of the local distributor of this particular copy.
