Description

In addition to providing valuable material, medical support, and sanitary services to the armed forces on the front lines, the Red Cross played a hugely important role in the domestic background of the Allied powers during WWII.

This map of London shows the location of various clubs operated by the organization that would provide services like laundry, a barber, warm meals, and a place for staff and servicemen on leave to relax. “Virtuous” forms of amusement like theaters, cinemas, and local landmarks are also shown. On the verso is a small map of the London Underground, and photographs of the entrances to prominent clubs to aid visitors in finding their way.
