Estival circa 1910, just a few years before the outbreak of World War I would forever alter the European continent. The contents offer a welcoming invitation to Monaco, La Condamine, and Monte Carlo, which collectively comprise the independent principality – the world’s second-smallest nation. Vivid photographs and descriptions of iconic landmarks like the Terrace, the Casino, and the Prince’s Palace provide an intimate window into the aristocratic pleasures of the early 20th century.
The volume concludes with a detailed fold-out street map (in French) that identifies municipal locations of interest, local transportation options, and precise building outlines. Notably, the harbor is depicted as actively under construction, reflecting Prince Albert I’s historic, ongoing modernization program to build the new yacht and commercial basins.
