Description

“Land Of Yesterday…Today…Tomorrow! Ageless in spectacular scenic grandeur that has been sculptured with all the finesse and art of natural forces…born of yesterday from rich legendary lore of totemism into the history of civilized man through turbulent and costly struggle for furst and gold…a vacationland distinctly of today, where nature’s phenomenal exploitation of beauty is fresh, virile, clean and unspoiled…a world vacationland of tomorrow with reserve resources for ages to come…this is Alaska!” [Text, verso]

This fun pair of promotional brochures was printed in Seattle in 1935 and 1936 by the Metropolitan Press on behalf of the Alaska Steamship Company. Both feature an attractive pictorial map, originally illustrated in 1934 by Edward Camy and advertised for sale and a standalone sheet.

Accompanying text and photographs highlight many of the natural attractions and recreational opportunities available in ‘A Land Among Lands’ and encourage the audience to “Pick Up…Pack Up..See Alaska!”. A note on the 1935 edition reflects the $5.00 price increase seen the following year.
