Description

This air-route map of the United States was published in a 1933 edition of Fortune magazine, at a period when profitable passenger airlines were becoming organized and incorporated across the country. The lines of major carriers – United, Transcontinental & Western, Eastern Air, and American – are noted with different colors across the image.

Information on each company, all established less than a decade prior, is given below the title. Numerous annotations provide further details on local geographic features, historic events, airplane amenities, and much more. Airports of entry and weather forecast centers are also identified.
