Before onboard air-conditioning, flights could get quite warm, especially in the tropical locales of Asia often frequented by the planes of Air-India. This souvenir fan was distributed to the airlines passengers after the company extended service to New York in 1960.

One side shows the global aviation routes of Air India (bold) and other carriers, while the obverse contains a romantic scene emblematic of India’s allure.
