The 3 Africas

Description
“Modern Africa – like ancient Gaul in Julius Caesar’s time – is divided into 3 parts”
This informational poster map was created and produced by the Civic Education Service for Scholastic Magazines, Inc. and published by the latter in Washington, D.C. in 1970. The brightly colored image depicts Africa divided across political lines in terms of Arab, Black, and White governmental oversight.
The accompanying text in the upper right recognizes some of the problems faced by each of the three groups and the progress made in decolonization since the end of World War II. Photographs in the lower left show portraits of rulers and scenes from each of the ‘3 Africas’, with a clear bias in terms of what is depicted from each.
