Description
This early overview of Afghanistan’s physical geography was authored by Emil Trinkler after he spent two years in the country working on behalf of Deutsch-Afghanische Compagnie AG.
In the foreword, Trinkler recognizes that traveling within the country made scientific work extremely difficult and most of his energy was focused on commercial activity, but his publication represents one of the first systematic efforts to analyze and describe the geology, stratigraphy, climate, and population of Afghanistan. The work is divided into two parts and includes numerous black-and-white images, an extensive historical bibliography, and four fold-out maps.
Published in Gotha by the influential firm of Justus Perthes in 1928 as Supplement 196 to ‘Petermann’s Communications’.
