Description

“Scenically beautiful is the country traversed by the Salt Lake Route, the Short Line between Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and the Western Sea. Nevada’s mountain-circled valleys and picturesque canyons are equalled only by the scenic charms of Southern California. On the following pages are suggestions of what may be seen in the great Orange District and West to the Ocean Resorts.” -Introduction.

This charming little orange-shaped souvenir was published around 1913 (statistics for 1912 given) by the Passenger Department of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. About 30 pages of captioned photographs cover the high points of the approximately 780-mile route, including San Bernardino, orange packing plants (with women and children working), the Huntington Park Drive, Long Beach pier, and Catalina Island. The last page presents a stylized view of the company’s lines in operation between Colton, California, and the Pacific Coast.
