This unassuming volume was compiled by Lieutenant-Colonel (later Lord) Richard Michael Power Carver and published in 1943. Its contents outline the formation and North African operations of the British 7th Armoured Division, known affectionately as the Desert Rats. A relatively straightforward chronology of events is accompanied by three unadorned folding route maps that highlight the Western Desert and Tunisian campaigns. The Desert Rats were renowned for their fighting of Rommel’s Afrika Korps (less so for defeating the Italians) – Major victories took place at the Battles of El Alamein and Tobruk.

Condition Description: 43 pp. booklet with stapled binding and original brown paper wraps. Spine and covers are loose and heavily worn, with a chip in the front and several spots of wear and tear. Contents are better, but not great, with scattered foxing, soiling along the fore-edge, and other signs of wear and use. Old owner's inscription on the title page. Appears to be complete, with three folding route maps affixed to the back. About good condition overall
