Description

For many of the thousands of Americans deployed to England in the early months of 1942, the trip across the Atlantic was their first time leaving the country. The Government Printing Office issued this informational pamphlet to lubricate initial interactions between British and U.S. Forces.

Significant attention is paid to local customs, gestures of respect, and justification for the viability of the partnership in arms. Warnings are also provided -“No Time to Fight Old Wars” for the Irish-Americans among the troops, and “NEVER criticize the King or Queen.”
