This map, originally published in 1782, was reproduced (permission courtesy of the State Library) by the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce in 1929 to celebrate the rich history of the Virginia Peninsula.
The image shows the situation of Cornwallis’ surrender near the end of the American Revolutionary War and features an updated superimposed image of the Yorktown Monument that commemorates the historic victory. Additional pages provide further text and photographs about the past of Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown.
