Description
This charming pictorial map extols the virtues of visiting ‘The Hospitality State’ by illustrating its natural beauty and numerous local landmarks. Small labels identify a variety of places and activities across the state, including nearby Mobile, Memphis, and New Orleans, while humorous figures can be seen engaging in a variety of pursuits.
Local transportation routes are emphasized, and notably portions of the Natchez Trace Parkway as shown as ‘Under Construction.’ The map is one of several designed by the talented artist Don Bloodgood during the 1950’s and 1960’s, and was designed to be folded into a souvenir mailer.
This particular example is scarce, with no copies available in OCLC and no market records that I can find.
